Thieves had a field day at a Model Town temple where they cut off a Shiva idol fixed to an iron platform and then collected the ornaments worn by other idols from right under the nose of temple caretakers.
The temple priest reported the matter to the police when he found gold ornaments and the Shiva idol missing in the morning.
According to the police, at the time of the incident two caretakers of the temple were present there. However, they have pleaded ignorance about the theft.
Suresh Gupta, incharge of the temple, said, "It must have taken the thieves a lot of time to remove the Shiva idol from the platform. The police should interrogate the caretakers. They couldn't have slept through the long robbery."
DCP (Northwest) N S Bundela said that a case has been registered and investigating is on. |
