Raj's family felt scared to collect body

By: Alisha Coelho

Rahul Raj Singh's parents did not travel to Mumbai to collect their son's corpse because they feared for their safety. Rahul was shot in a police encounter on Monday after he tried to hold a bus hostage.

"My children wanted to travel to Mumbai and collect Raj's body, but I told them that it wouldn't be safe," said Kundan Prasad Singh, Raj's father. He added, "We all know what's happening to Biharis in Mumbai. We've already lost our son. We don't want anything to happen to our other family members."

Raj's body was taken to J J Hospital for post mortem yesterday morning.

Dr BG Chikhalkar, Dr A H Meshram and Dr Mahadev Bonsude conducted an autopsy on the body before it was flown to Patna.

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar said that the police were still examining the cause of the urgency with which Raj left for Mumbai last Friday.
