The innings' break during the ICL game between Lahore Badshahs and Delhi Giants wasn't a regular one.

On Monday, after Lahore were done batting, they joined their partners and children for a mid-match Diwali party at the Tau Devilal Stadium in Gurgaon.

Organised by the ICL, the party aimed at getting the players' families acquainted with the Indian festival. For most of them, it was their first brush with Diwali and their excitement was visible. While Azhar Mahmood joined wife Ebba and daughter Inaaya to light diyas, teammate Humayun Farhat tucked into the rasgullas. Moin Khan's daughter Fatima took a liking to sparklers.

The bash was a refreshing change for the players who are so used to the scheduled activities during matches.

"Diwali is all about spreading cheer and with the Badshahs around, it was our way of sharing the good times," said Manoj Mayani, chief media strategist, ICL.

And if the players were enthusiastic, their wives were super enthusiastic.

The lovely ladies joined their sporty spouses in lighting diyas and candles, and soon accompanied the kids in firing crackers.

"They were so excited and kept asking about Diwali, its history and significance," said an onlooker.

Amid chomps of barfi and bread rolls, the shindig continued for almost half-an-hour with everyone asking for
more.

Once the break was over, the boys rushed to the field but the families were in no mood to join them. Guess for them this game was far more entertaining.
