Mumbai: Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh Friday alleged Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh was treating Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray like a son-in-law by not taking any action while the MNS cadre went targetting North Indians recently. The Rajya Sabha MP blamed Congress for creating Raj into a menace.
Singh said it was time for Centre to intervene since 'the Vilasrao Deshmukh government has chosen not to get tough with Thackeray'.
Earlier in the day, Raj Thackeray Friday said his party did not have anything against any festival, not even Bihar's Chhat Puja, but was opposed to its use as a political card in Maharashtra. ''I have enjoyed and taken part in Durga Puja and Ram Leela, which also are not Maharashtrian festivals but there has never been any politics about them. Only Bihar leaders want Chhat Puja to be a show of strength in Mumbai,'' he said.
