I'm # 1! Sarah Palin has become an embarrassment. Pic/ap | Sarah Palin has hinted that if she and John McCain did not win, she would go it alone for the White House. In a TV interview, which has still not been screened in the US, she said, "I'm not doing this for naught."
With just four days left before election day, the remark fuelled bitterness within the Republican Party that the 44-year-old Alaska governor is looking to boost her own political fortunes rather than fully support McCain's flagging bid for the presidency.
A Republican source said, "She is revealing that she has her own agenda and that isn't necessarily benefitting John McCain." This shows there is some truth to claims that she is "going rogue".
When asked about mounting a campaign in 2012, if McCain loses on Tuesday, Palin said she is "thinking that it's going to go our way", but declared she would not return to Alaska if she failed. "Absolutely not," Palin said. "I think that if I were to give up and wave a white flag of surrender against some of the political shots that we've taken ... I'm not doing this for naught." |
