You must have heard about people, who turn thieves due to money problems, but here's a chain snatcher, who uses his sports bike worth Rs 80,000, gifted by his family to steal gold chains from women in Kandivli area.
The Kandivli police were in for a shock, on Friday, after investigations into the ever-increasing complaints of chain snatching in Kandivli revealed that the thief was a 22-year-old rich boy. Gold chains worth Rs 1.85 lakh were stolen from Kandivli in less than two weeks. The police arrested Preetesh Doshi, the accused, who lives in Malad and has a real estate business.
Spoilt brat Further inquiries revealed that Doshi was working in Washington DC earlier and had returned to India sometime back.
As he was unemployed here, his family gave him a monthly allowance of Rs 12,000. They also gifted him a sports bike worth Rs 80,000, but due to his luxurious lifestyle and spending habits, Doshi used his bike to snatch gold chains.
Said Senior Inspector Surendra Kumar Jaiswal of Kandivli police station, "We have recovered five gold mangalsutras from the accused, who used his sports bike to commit the crimes."
Jaiswal added that the police had enough evidence to believe that he had committed more crimes of similar nature in the western suburbs between Goregaon and Borivli.
"It is learnt that the accused is used to spending money on drugs and has a luxurious lifestyle. We are also investigating a case of mobile theft registered against Doshi in DN Nagar police station last year," said investigation officer Subash Vele.
