Ritwik will be closely watched at state squash

By: A Correspondent
Mumbai city's squash season will peak with the 33rd Bombay Gymkhana-HSBC Maharashtra State Open Squash Championships taking off from September 13 to 19 at the club's Gothic squash courts.

The action promises to be fast and furious with a very strong men's line-up.

Malaysia's Mohammed Azlan Iskandar from Malaysia who is the World No 11 and currently trains with Peter Genever in England will be here for the event.

Run of form

Iskandar has had a tremendous run of form off late with a semi-final showing at the USD 140,000 Petrosport event in Cairo.

Five-time national champion Ritwik Bhattacharya is the one likely to stop the 'Joh Jeeta Wahi Iskandar' real life movie happening on the Bombay Gym courts. Ritwik comes into the tournament after two events in Europe, the Forexx Open in Holland and the Ornano Open in Bordeaux, France.

The winner takes Rs 112,075 and the women's champ will go home with Rs 50,000.

The women's contest has eight-time National champion Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikkal. Mandy Kennedy from England might spoil the Indian party though.
