Dandiya season came early to Mid day, as dandiya queen Falguni Pathak walked into our office yesterday afternoon. Falguni, the Gujarati who makes Mumbai gyrate, was here as guest editor of the Gujarati Mid Day (GMD).  She spent nearly two hours in the office.

As GMD's guest editor, she looked over stories at the customary edit meet, where an editor decides on the content for the next day's edition. She admitted to feeling some trepidation as the meet began. "I realised just how much responsibility this entails," she said.

Falguni also formally released a special supplement about her to be distributed with today's edition of GMD. As nine nights of celebration burst upon us in a sparkle of colour and lights, twirling ghaghras and swirling sticks, the singer epitomises the gung-ho, effervescent spirit of the festival.

This seven-page eponymous supplement called Falguni has the artiste telling her story in her own words. She takes the reader from her childhood to college days and finally to the established performer and dandiya diva that she is today. Pick up your Gujarati Mid day today to read all about Falguni Pathak.
