Maharashtra MLA and underworld don Arun Gawli has decided not to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, his daughter Geeta said on Tuesday.
There were reports that Gawli would be contesting against Congress nominee Milind Deora from Mumbai South constituency.
"My father has thought over the issue for some time and decided not to contest the elections in the larger public interest and in the interest of Congress," Geeta, a local corporator, said.
Gawli is expected to make a public statement over his decision to pull out from the elections by tomorrow, she said. |
