Areas like Thane, Kalyan, Dombivli, Bhiwandi, Bhandup and Mulund that are badly affected by load shedding on a daily basis have a reason to rejoice.
Areas beyond Mumbai where the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL) provides electricity won't have power cuts for an increased period of time this summer. A spokesperson from MSEDCL said "We have reduced the load shedding hours by 45 minutes. But this has nothing to do with the elections."
Usually, these areas face power cuts between three to six hours everyday. Load shedding is one of the major issues in these areas during the elections.
