IAS officer in CM office accused of distributing money

By: MiD DAY Correspondent

It seems like chief minister B S Yeddyurappa is leaving 'no stone unturned' to ensure the victory of BJP candidates.

The chief minister is now  accused of making use of bureaucrats to turn the tide in favour of the BJP.

B S Yeddyurappa

An IAS cadre officer in chief minister's office was caught red-handed with huge unaccounted cash at Travellers' Bungalow in Chickmagalur on Sunday. Nanda Kumar, joint secretary to the chief minister, has been booked for election code breach and election commissioner M N Vidyashankar is  supervising the case.

This is said to be the first case where a bureaucrat from the chief minister's office is directly involved in distribution of money and violation of election code and conduct.

Plaint against Gowda

Meanwhile, the state ruling party has filed a complaint with the Election Commission against former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and has demanded his disqualification.

The BJP, on the basis of an electronic media news report, accused the JD(S) supremo of violating code of conduct by distributing money to voters. A video CD has been enclosed with the complaint.
