The annual flower show at the Lalbagh Glass House  goes wild with an 'animals' theme this year

THE yearly flower show at the famous Glass House at Lalbagh Botanical Gardens is already underway, and will conclude on the coming Independence Day.

This year, the theme is 'Animals'. The attractions  include dinosaurs made of 50,000 flowers, elephants, rabbits, dolphins, deer and even a mermaid.

Another exhibit that caught the crowd's fancy were the fighter planes made of banana leaves, that still managed to look like they were on a war mission.

The Glass House also featured an exhibition of Thai Art, Ikebana, Indian floral art, vegetable carving, Dutch flower arrangements, dry flower and Bonsai shows.

Apart from the crowds of vistors posing for pictures before the exhibits, there were commercial photographers who clicked and sold instant snaps for Rs 50 each, using handy printing machines.

Security seemed to be a big concern with organisers, who had installed metal-detectors and CCTVs to keep a check on the visitors.

Nearly 1,200 participants will compete under different categories this year, and an unprecedented six lakh visitors are expected to view their works over the next few days.
