Top Kannada actress gets increased security after 'hardcore fan' calls her brother and says he needs money, is ready to kill if he is denied it|
Threatening calls have now spread from Bollywood to Sandalwood. Top Kannada actress Amulya was recently at the receiving end of calls in which the caller allegedly threatened to kidnap her and kill her if he was not given money.
Threatened: Kannada actress Amulya
As a result, Amulya and her brother Deepak met Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari and requested police protection.
Not a prank
On December 7, Amulya's family found that someone had left flowers and coconuts outside her Malleshwaram house the previous night.
The family thought it was a prank and ignored it.
That afternoon, a man called Deepak and allegedly said, "I am a hardcore fan of Amulya and I like her very much."
Deepak did not bother much about the call, as such calls are common.
However, a few hours later, the man allegedly called again, and said, "I am Jayram and not the usual kind of man. I need money otherwise I will kidnap her."
When Deepak ignored him this time too, Jayram allegedly called again and said, "I know Amulya is studying in Mount Carmel College. I will meet her there for an autograph and kill her."
This time, Deepak took the call seriously, but was unable to record the voice as his mobile phone did not have the technology. He then borrowed his friend's handset and recorded the call. Deepak then began avoiding the calls from that landline number, but Jayram then allegedly started calling from a mobile.
"I made my bullet ready and it will take life of Amulya," he said and allegedly added the name of the local don he had hired to kill the actress.
The name shook Deepak and he and Amulya went to meet Bidari.
Bidari ordered Vyalikaval police to trace the call and identify the call. Jayram continued to call. Deepak was unavailable for comment, while Amulya was away shooting. Vyalikaval police inspector said, "The complaint has been registered in our police station. We have increased her personal security and the security of her house. We are investigating the case and will solve it soon."
