Vikas Swarup's Q & A, which has already been translated into five Indian languages, will be published in Marathi

Vikas Swarup's international bestseller Q&A, which has been translated into 40 languages, five of them Indian, will soon be published in Marathi. Oscar-winning lyricist Gulzar will release the book, which has been adapted into the hugely successful movie Slumdog Millionaire, in Kolhapur.

Sunil Mehta, of the Mehta Publishing House told this correspondent that he bought the rights to translate the book from UK-based Jessica Buckman, proprietor, of the Backman Agency.

"Q&A has been translated into Marathi by Vandana Atre. The book is scheduled for release next month,"
Mehta said.

"We are contacting Gulzar saab for finalising the date of the formal launch in Kolhapur, which is an important centre for the Marathi book publishing business," he added.

Slumdog bagged eight Oscar awards on Monday. "Over 800 copies of the Gujarati translation of Q&A titled Jackpot sold in a week's time in the build up to Oscars," Mehta said, adding that he hoped the Marathi version would be as well received.
