Following the kidnap of a newborn baby boy yesterday from the premises, Sion Hospital is rushing to increase security.

Speaking to MiD DAY this morning, Dean Sandhya Kamat said, "The CCTV installation is in progress. We will increase security personnel so that every section of the hospital is guarded and such incidents are avoided.

We will  also tighten security at the gates." The dean added that 30 CCTV cameras would soon be functional.

The four-day-old baby of Chembur resident Mohini Nerurkar was kidnapped by an unknown woman posing as a patient's relative.

The incident took place when Nerurkar went to wash her baby's clothes, leaving the child on the bed. The hospital has registered the case at the Sion police station.
