Taj uses Indian measurements

By: MiD DAY Correspondent
Designers of the 17th century Taj Mahal employed the same unit of measurement used by the Harappan civilisation as far back as 2000 BC.

According to R Balasubramaniam of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, a unit of measurement called the angulam was used without a break in India for over 3,900 years.

This can be linked back to the Arthashastra of Kautilya.

However, if you are willing to look beyond the Arthashastra, you will also find a reference to the angulam in the Srimad Bhagavatam.
