NCR will get a step closer to the Capital with the Delhi Metro likely to roll into the satellite town on August 15
This Independence Day Delhi Metro may have a precious gift for people who commute regularly between the Capital and Noida.
The much-awaited Metro line in Noida is likely to open on August 15.
A senior Metro official, wishing anonymity, said, "Work on the Metro stations in Noida will be over by August 10. And trial runs will start by the later half of July.
"We generally look for important dates to launch the service. If everything goes well, the trains will definitely chug into the satellite town on August 15."
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director E Sreedharan also told MiD DAY that the section will be opened in August.
However, he did not specify any date. "Three trains are to be commissioned. Two will be put on the Dwarka- Yamuna Bank route, as it is very crowded.
Another one will ply on the Central Secretariat-Jahangirpuri Line. After that, with the arrival of new trains, the Noida section will be opened," said Sreedharan.
The section was earlier slated for opening in June. However, because of shortage of rolling stock, the deadline was rescheduled.
