Bharatlal Meena is the new BBMP commissioner.
S Subramanya, the previous commissioner, has been transferred to the agricultural department as principal secretary. Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa told media "He wanted a transfer," and that there was no confusion on it.
Meena, who was secretary, social welfare department, is considered a motivator and a complete people's person. He is best remembered for his Apna Desh movement where he inspired villagers to improve their districts themselves. Whether as district collector, or as head of BESCOM, Meena has left an indellible mark. Since he is considered a citizen's person, disillusioned Bangaloreans can look forward to some quick action.
His first major job as BBMP commissioner will be to tackle the monsoon efficiently and effectively.
