Mira Rd gang rape case: Three students arrested

Three college students were arrested yesterday for allegedely gang raping a 19 year old girl at a lodge in Mira Road. The cops are currently on the lookout for the other four co-accused.

The incident took place on May 14  and the victim only registered a complaint last night at the Mira Road police station when the incident came to notice of her family.
 
The victim, an SYBA student from Abhinav College in Bhayander (e) was allegedly taken to Sai Puja lodge at Mira Road on May 14 by one of the accused known to her. At the lodge she was raped by the accused and six others who then  videotaped the act and proceeded to forward the MMS among their friends circle.
 
Police sources say that the victim confessed that she had been blackmailed of dire consequences if she revealed information about the incident.

The three accused have been identified as Parag Mhatre, Pankaj Mhatre and Hirendra Patil. The accused will be produced in the court today.
 

This incident comes to light only two months after another student at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences was allegedly gangraped by six youth.
