Bloggers who wanted March 1 to be celebrated as Kamasutra Day are now taking the fight to the Prime Minister, no less.
After an online campaign calling bloggers to observe March1 as Kamasutra Day, a 2400-member group calling itself Kamasutra Day A celebration of Indian Culture has posted an online petition, addressed to the PM and two of his cabinet colleagues Ambika Soni and Renuka Chowdhry.
Around 320 bloggers have already signed the online appeal which has a three-point demand: Declaring March 1 as World Kamasutra Day, to expedite legal proceedings against Sri Ram Sena members responsible for repeated violence and continuous attacks on women, and to prepare a government document that defines 'Indian culture'.
"This is my first step against these hooligans," says Lubna Farha, a blogger, who has signed for the petition. Despite all that activity in the virtual world, there was no sign of the day being celebrated in the real world yesterday. Those behind this initiative were unavailable for comment.
