Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Gool area of Ramban district on Monday.
On a tip off, Rashtriya Rifle troops and police launched an operation in Patas area of the district in the wee hours.
In the subsequent encounter, the two militants were gunned down, police sources said.
One of the slain militants has been identified as Abdul Majeed, who was active in militancy since 2007.
The identity of another militant was being ascertained. Security forces have also recovered one sniper rifle, one 303 rifle and some ammunition from the slain militants. |
