Kurla railway police arrest thieves

The next time you are standing near at foot board of a local and talking on the cell phone or carrying your valuables, be a little careful.

The Kurla railway police have nabbed three thieves - Shailesh Telora (19), Prakash Kadam (25) and Heru Revankar (20) who had been running a racket of stealing the valuables from people standing on the footboard. After stealing them, these thieves would sell the goods again.

According to Purushottam Gawade, police head constable from Kurla railway police, the trio would stand in the area between the two tracks. With the help of a stick they would hit the victim standing on the footboard.

"We had received a complain and after which we immediately we rushed and caught them red handed. They tried to flee the spot but we were successful in nabbing them," he said.

According, to Gawade the trio had been arrested by Thane police and had already spent time in Thane jail for similar crime.

"More than 10 cases have be registered against them in various police stations. We have taken their custody till March 31."
