Bangaloreans active on Twitter demand Tharoor clear air on IPL controversy on micro blogging site

Tharoor has his fair share of fans. A few days after the IPL controversy broke out, Minister of State for External Affairs, Shashi Tharoor, has been asked by several fans to come clean on the entire controversy, on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

Explain please

"He should tweet and explain this entire controversy.

It is wonderful that he connects to us through his tweets, but, he should be more careful about what he is posting as he is a public figure," said Ramya, the Kannada actress who is a regular follower of Shashi Tharoor on Twitter.

Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor has been accused of using Sunanda Pushkar as a front for buying the Indian Premier League Kochi team.

Tharoor has come under the scanner, once again. This time his grouse is with Lalit Modi regarding the ownership of the Kochi IPL team.

It is alleged that Tharoor's ladylove, Sunanda Pushkar, a spa owner was granted a free stake in the new IPL franchise.

Bangaloreans are all in support of Twitter-friendly Tharoor who enjoys a fan following of nearly 7 lakh.

"People are more supportive of Tharoor than Modi because he is more visible on Twitter and he comes across as the face of youth politics in India.

Moreover, by tweeting he ensures transparency," said Tinnu Cherian, a 30-year-old software engineer, who is active on Twitter.

For Tharoor, controversy is no stranger. He has courted several controversies in the past due to his sense of humour and his infamous Tweets.

However, there are a few tweeples who believe that by using Twitter as a platform to express their discontent, both Modi and Tharoor made the issue 'murky.'

Don't understand

"Right now everything is very unclear. There is no clarity and it is difficult to understand, who is right.

He tweets so much so he might as well explain the mess," said Hrish Thota, a social-media professional, who tweets by the handle.

The Shashi Tharoor - Lalit Modi Controversy

Earlier this month, IPL  chief Lalit Modi published the shareholders  details of Kochi-IPL team's franchise owners, Rendezvous Sports World (RSW) group in his Twitter account.

The details also included a mention that he was asked by an influential Union Minister to not get into details of Sunanda Pushkar who was given a free equity of approximately 18 per cent (worth approx Rs 70 crore in RSW.

In an official statement,  Shashi Tharoor denied having made any financial gains from the sale or having pressured Modi in any way.

He further accused Modi of trying to delay and discredit the new owners so that the franchise can be re-awarded elsewhere.

RSW protested Modi's breach of confidentiality agreement. Sunanda Pushkar also issued a statement denying being a proxy for Tharoor.
