Kingfisher flight asked to abort take-off as Go Air spotted on the same runway

A major air tragedy was averted at Chhatrapati Shivaji domestic terminal when the pilot of a Kingfisher Airlines flight IT 4123 was directed by Mumbai Air Traffic Control to abort immediate take-off as a Go Air aircraft was spotted on the same runway.

According to reports, it could have led to a major mishap had the pilot not aborted the flight.

Shortly after Kingfisher Airlines flight, on its way to Bhavnagar had been cleared for take-off by the ATC tower in Mumbai at 1.36 PM, the commander of the flight was directed to abort take-off. Fortunately, the aircraft's speed had been in compliance with the ATC instructions.

The aircraft, an ATR 72-500, was later checked by the Kingfisher engineering team and finally took off at 2.50 PM with all 30 passengers and crew on board.
