Call made from Andheri, but caller still untraced, say cops

The Sahar police left Shabaz Khan and his wife Munira after initial enquiries early yesterday morning, but they say the enquiry won't be over till they nab the caller. The couple was detained on Sunday after a caller warned about the presence of a 'terrorist' on board a Mumbai-Dubai Emirates flight before take off.

The police yesterday traced the call to Andheri, but are yet to trace the caller. They believe the caller is close to the family, as he had given all the flight details, including their seat number. They have questioned Shahbaz's son, Arif, who is suspected to have made the call because of a family property dispute. But that has not led to any conclusion so far.

A police officer from Sahara said, "We left the couple after initial enquiries, but cannot give a clean chit to anyone till the caller is nabbed. The enquiry into their family dispute or any other enmity is still on."

MRA Marg Senior Police Inspector S Kokil, who had once arrested Arif, said, "The Sahar police have not approached us yet. We will provide any information they need."

Meanwhile, Khan told the media that he suspected that either political opponents or those who had an eye on his property were behind the call. The motive, he said, was obviously to malign his image and cause trouble.
