Cheerleaders to visit pubs to promote their teams

As the IPL starts today, teams are leaving no stone unturned to promote themselves. Their main strategy seems to be to reach out to youngsters and that too at their favourite haunts.

Cheerleaders will be going to different pubs in the city to catch people's attention.

"Cheerleaders have been especially flown in from Spain, Russia and Bangkok for promotional purposes, and they have been staying in guesthouses across the city," said a source.

Iqbal Mulla, owner, Treasure Tours and Travels, confirmed, "We will be taking care of the flight tickets, accommodation and food for the cheerleaders.

They will be performing in few of the city pubs to promote their respective teams."

Mulla said that the cheerleaders would travel to all the states where the matches are being held. "We don't have the venue list yet, but the promotional activities starts from Mumbai today," he revealed.

No IPL at Taj

The Taj Mahal hotel has decided not to screen matches at Shamiana. The hotel withdrew the offer, as Novex Communications asked for Rs 5 lakh licence fee, while Taj was ready to pay Rs 2 lakh. The hotel had issued a press release regarding offers at Shamiana and Starboard.

"They changed their plans at the eleventh hour, and the deal was not negotiable anymore," said a hotel source.

The Other Side

The Taj spokesperson said, "We had planned dishes inspired by different IPL teams! But our chef wanted to try a better promotional theme, so we decided to withdraw the entire promotion from Shamiana."
Ketan Kanakia, owner, Novex Communication, said, "There is nothing like that, we have no problem with the five star hotels, it is only the Udipi joints that are flouting the rule. Taj has acquired all the necessary licences."

Going, Going Gone

According to Ticketgenie helpline centre, only six tickets for today's match were available for level 1 and 2, for Rs 1,000 at 8.30 pm yesterday.
