IT swoops down on 3 Bollywood biggies

The suspense continued until late last evening as searches by Income Tax authorities continued at residence and offices of three Bollywood personalities.

The Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) wing of the Income Tax department yesterday conducted the searches at the residences and offices of filmmaker Yash Chopra, producer Sajid Nadiadwala and proprietor of Baba Films, Govardhan Tanwani, said sources in the Income Tax department.

"The searches are continuing on the premises of three Bollywood personalities," an officer who part of the search team confirmed late last evening. "I cannot divulge any further details right now."

The searches had begun last morning.

While two offices of Baba Films were searched yesterday, a raid had been carried out on Baba Films two years ago.

Only a couple of days back, officials had raided the premises of actor Salman Khan's brother, Arbaz, during which a disclosure of Rs 15 crore was made.

Sources said that the I-T department had on Tuesday raided the office of a towel manufacturing company having its office in Parel (east). "The search yielded a disclosure of Rs 125 crore," the official said.
