The potholed stretch in Thakur Village in Kandivli (E)

It could well the city's bumpiest road to ride on.

Patches of potholes, puddles dot the roads in Thakur Village and Thakur Complex, Kandivli.

After trudging the length of this road and comparing it with others, MiD DAY found it to be worst vis- -vis the others named by our readers.

Over the last three days, MiD DAY carried out a campaign to adjudge the worst road across the city. Readers had been nominating the one they felt qualified for the title.

MiD DAY readers had voted for Andheri-Kurla road (66%) as the worst road in the city. However, when MiD DAY surveyed the five roads that had been nominated, Thakur Village roads were the worst in the city.

Along the 2-3 km stretch, there wasn't a single sq mt of area where a pothole was not found. The adjacent roads were in an equally bad state.

The road contractor of the ward had filled potholes with gravel stones, thus worsening the condition of the road. Yesterday, various dahi handi mandals had poured sand on that stretch of the road beneath the dahi handis just so that it does not hurt the govindas forming human pyramids.

Meanwhile, the Andheri-Kurla road came across a glaring perfect example why the BMC should stop using paverblocks on roads which see heavy traffic.
