In an attempt to nab the accused, who installed a camera in the ladies restroom at McDonalds in Thane, a police team of four officials from Kasarvadavli left for Latur district at 1 am, this morning.
Family members of the accused Sachin Waghmare said in a statement to the cops that Sachin had fled to Latur, as it was his hometown. "He told his family after the incident that he was going back home," said a police official.
On Saturday, Sachin an employee of the cleaning department of McDonald's installed a camera phone on the vent of the ladies toilet. A customer who visited the washroom discovered the mobile phone and informed the staff at McDonald's, and later the police.
When the couple alerted the management, they opened the vent and found a mobile phone with its recording button switched on. Initial investigations revealed that Sachin Waghmare had placed the camera. Thane resident Yogdeep Korpade (31), and his wife Shilpa, visited the restaurant at 4 pm on Saturday. "My wife wanted to visit the restroom before we left, but the housekeeping staff asked her to wait while they cleaned the toilet. However, when she went in, the toilet was still unclean. That made her suspicious and she began to look around. She then saw a light blinking in the vent above," said Korpade.
