Vinod Kambli's wife in catfight with banker

Bank manager alleges cricketer's wife slapped her when asked about repayment of car loan; Andrea claims banker tried to forcibly enter house

Former cricketer Vinod Kambli's spouse has found herself on the other side of the law. Andrea, a former model, allegedly got into a scuffle with a bank manager over repayment of a car loan.

The matter came to the fore after the manager of Dombivli Nagari Sahakari Bank at Dadar approached the Bandra police to lodge a cross complaint against Andrea on August 27 alleging that the cricketer's wife slapped her.

This was hours after Andrea lodged a non-cognisable complaint (NC) at the Bandra police station against the bank manager for trespassing her Bandra Reclamation home. However, the police are yet to initiate action.
The spat began when Deepa Upadhyay, manager of Dombivli Nagari Sahakari Bank, visited Kambli's residence on August 27 to remind the former cricketer that he had been skipping payments of installments on a Rs 20 lakh loan for the past three months. According to the complaint, Kambli had taken a loan to buy a car in May last year.

While Andrea alleged in her complaint that the manager tried to force an entry into her house and hurt her hand, Upadhyay's complaint states that she only tried proving her credentials by showing Andrea her bank identity card and never tried pushing through the cricketer's doorway. The complaint also states that Andrea slapped her.

The two complaints have left the police guessing. "I cannot judge who is right and who is wrong, but complaints have been filed. I am guessing the conversation turned ugly," said a police officer, requesting anonymity.

Senior Inspector Prakash George from the Bandra police station, said, "There are non-cognisable complaints registered by both parties. We cannot reveal any more details at this stage as we are investigating the matter."

The Other Side
"I complained against her [Upadhyay] first. She came along with a big-built man and told my maid to call my husband. Since he was not at home, I went to the door. As soon as I came, the manager started behaving badly. I tried closing the door, but the banker slammed the door on me and hurt my hand. So I went to the police immediately and filed the complaint. I hope they co-operate," said Andrea.
