Case Study On September 10 last year, Kaushik Maru's (26) bike was rammed by a BEST bus which suddenly changed lanes to make a stop at Koliwada bus stop. Maru's bike skid on the road, injuring him and his pillion badly. They were rushed to Bhabha Hospital, where Maru was treated for head and chin injuries, while his friend went into shock for 24 hours.
Copspeak Police Sub-Inspector Suresh Shinde, from the Mahim Police Station, said, "While similar accidents have transpired on this road before, most of the accidents happen due to jaywalking pedestrians. In spite of there being two Foot Over Bridges (FOB) on the road, pedestrians choose to cross the road through gaps in the divider. However, the number of accidents has definitely reduced in the last couple of years."
Voices Michael Gonsalves, a resident of the area, said "Most of the accidents occur in the wee hours of the morning. Three days back, there was an oil spill on the road due to which four bikes skid at night. It was we fishermen who put sand on the road following the accident."
Peter Jacob a fisherman from the area said, "A lot of the accidents occur due to pedestrians crossing the road via the gaps in the divider. However, these gaps are necessary to prevent our colony from flooding during the monsoon."

Case Study On November 28 last year, Abdul Rehman's (35) bike skid while he was on his way to work on his bike.

Case Study On December 10 last year, Shailesh Jain(24) who was crossing the road was hit by a car while trying to avoid a speeding biker. Both his legs and one hand were fractured.

Case Study After a night of revelry, when the inebriated driver, Rahul Mishra hit a tree and lost control, 18-year-old Shivani Rawat, one of the occupants, died. The other six occupants of the car, as well as the rickshaw driver were severely injured. Shivani succumbed to various internal injuries, while two of her friends, Nimisha Mane and Priyanka Rai were left battling for their lives.
Copspeak Senior Inspector Madhukar Choudhary of the Santacruz police station confirmed that the accident was owing to drink driving. He said, "This is a case of drink driving. The driver Rahul Mishra has been booked for his friend's death owing to negligence, and he is now in police custody."
