A US national of Afghan origin was stabbed to death by her fiance in a south Delhi guesthouse, police said yesterday. Paimana Khanger (22), was stabbed to death by Omid Milad Hussain Khill (pictured), an Afghan national, on Saturday night at Shamsher Home Stay guesthouse in Jangpura Extension, said Additional Commissioner of Police Ajay Chaudhary.

Khill, who had come to Delhi from Russia about a week ago, was arrested yesterday while he was trying to catch a flight to Afghanistan, said Chaudhary. Khanger had come to Delhi from the US a day before Khill reached the Capital.
Khanger's body was discovered by her friends around 11.30 pm in a room on the second floor of the guesthouse. "She was lying on the floor with a knife, with which she was stabbed, stuck in her abdomen. The victim's body had struggle marks," said Chaudhary.
A friend of the victim told police that Khanger had been staying with her at the house of Nuriya, maternal aunt of Khanger, in Jangpura Extension area. "Khanger's engagement was fixed with Khill who was studying in a college at Saint Petersburg in Russia, but she was not happy with the engagement," said Chaudhary.
The family had sought the help of a priest to sort out the matter but she did not agree. Her refusal hurt Khill, police said. "Yesterday they had a fight around 5 pm. After that they went to Amar Colony market in south Delhi and returned at Khanger's aunt house around 8 pm," said Chaudhary.
Around 10.10 pm Khill left for the guest house. "Khanger also went to the guest house saying that she was going there for a bath. That's when she was killed," he said. Khanger and her aunt had gone to receive Khill at the airport when he arrived in Delhi. |
