Responding to a question in a book release ceremony on man-woman relationship, Jethmalani said: "Ram was a very bad husband. I don’t like him at all. Just because some fisherman said something against Sita, he sent the poor woman to vanvaas (exile)."
"Love is never to be measured by the response of the beloved. It is to be measured how much you are prepared to sacrifice for the objective of your love," said Jethmalani.
Meanwhile, his remarks about Hindu lord Ram has given a birth to another controversy, which may cause be a major embarrassment for BJP.

Congress spokesperson Rashid Masood also critisized Jethmalani for this bizarre statement and said the BJP leaders only take Ram’s name to come in power, they have no genuine respect for him. Reacting to the Jethmalani's remark Bhartiya Sant Samaj president Acharya Pramod Krishnan said that Jethmalani has lost his sense and instead of ''Ram Jethmalani'' he should call himself ''Ravan Jethmalani''.
He further stated that Jethmalani must aplogise to the people.
Jethmalani and his son Mahesh Jethmalani are currently engaged in a probity battle with BJP president Nitin Gadkari, whom he has been pressing to resign in the face of corruption allegations against him
