Three students of IIM Indore were expelled on Friday for allegedly taking drugs at their hostel room.

The incident took place on November 21, when the second year MBA students were caught consuming narcotic substance by the staff, the premier business institute's spokesman Parvez Akhtar told PTI on Friday.

Soon after, a disciplinary committee comprising four professors investigated the case and recommended the trio's expulsion, he said.

The identity of the students was not revealed to guard their future prospects.

This is not the first time that students from the institute have been caught taking drugs.

In February 2012, two students were expelled for allegedly taking drugs inside the institute premises.

At that time IIM-Indore board chairman LN Jhunjhunwala, after holding a meeting with the institute authorities, had told media persons that he had ordered director M. Ravichandran to investigate the matter and find out the source of the drugs. Jhunjhunwala had also ordered a police investigation into the case.
