Lesbian daughter from Hong Kong urges dad to cancel $65m marriage deal
A lesbian woman from Hong Kong, who recently made headlines after her father offered 65 million dollars to any man who marries his daughter, has taken to Facebook to implore her father to pull back the deal
Cecil Chao, a flamboyant Hong Kong shipping magnate who once claimed to have 10,000 girlfriends, offered the money to the man who would marry his daughter Gigi, who has been in an open lesbian relationship for seven years and is said to have recently eloped to France with her lover.
“For your family’s sanity’s sake, Daddy please rescind the notice!!!!” the New York Daily News quoted her as writing.
Not surprisingly, the publicity surrounding the dowry has led to many potential takers. Cecil Chao said that he’s gotten letters from “thousands of people writing to say they want to be my in-laws.”
“I’m interested in your offer to wed your daughter, who also happens to be gay. I am a male person, who also happens to be gay,” one American suitor wrote.
“I’m really serious and despite the fact I am a man I think I can make this woman happy. I’m as soft as a woman,” a Frenchman wrote.
As for Gigi, she seems amazed by how there has been interest around the world.
“Where do all these people come from? Jerusal[e]m? Ethiopia? Istanbul? Ridiculous,” she wrote.
