Waiter flashes teenage girls at birthday party
Arrested by the police, the 28-year-old man insisted that he may have accidentally exposed himself to the young guests while sweeping the floor, adding that he had put his underwear in the wash and so did not have one on
A birthday party in a banquet hall ended in high drama, when a waiter exposed his private parts to a group of teenage girls, prompting an angry parent to give him a thrashing.
The party was being held at a mall at Kurla. Amidst the celebrations, a recently recruited waiter flashed a group of girls. When confronted, the man vehemently denied the allegation, saying that he may have ‘accidentally’ exposed himself while busy with his work.
The accused – identified as Pranav Nishikant Raut (28) – had joined work a fortnight back, and would stay in the hall after work. As per the dress code for the day, the waiter was wearing dhoti and a kurta.
Senior Police Inspector Subhash Raut from VB Nagar police station said, “The birthday party was going on in the hall late in the evening, and continued long after the waiter flashed the girls. One of them immediately informed her father about the incident, who later caught the waiter and thrashed him.”
Raut added, “Someone from the hall called the control room and informed them about the incident. A team was dispatched and the accused was arrested immediately from the spot.”
Raut added, “When we asked Pranav why he didn’t have any underwear on, he claimed that he owns only one underwear, which he had given for a wash. Pranav insisted that the whole incident was accidental – while he was sweeping in the hall, his private parts might have been mistakenly exposed, he said.”
The accused has been booked under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent) and has been remanded in police custody.
