High-profile sex racket busted in Koregaon Park

Officials of the Social Security Cell (SSC) busted a high-profile sex racket in Koregaon Park on Monday night and rescued 12 girls, including an Uzbek, a Bangladeshi and a Nepali, and arrested five people for operating the syndicate

The arrested persons were identified as Ramdev Yadav, Ismail Kausar, Vyanktesh Veganna Rao, Yogesh Pawar and Mahadev Musule. They were accused of working as pimps.

SSC Police Inspector Bhanu Pratap Barge said, “We received information some eight days ago that a sex racket was being operated by five people from a plush society in Koregaon Park. Based on this information, we sent a decoy on Monday night and raided the flat after we got confirmation. We rescued 12 girls, including an Uzbek, a Bangadeshi and a Nepali. They were forced into prostitution.” 

He said the arrested accused were booked under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA) at the Koregaon Park police
station.

Barge added that the girls were sent to the Rescue Foundation, a city NGO.
