Mosque bombing kills six in Pakistan

The blast that injured at least 28 people was caused by an explosive material

At least six people were killed and 28 injured when a massive explosion tore through a mosque in a densely populated area of Peshawar yesterday.

“Six people were killed in the explosion inside the mosque,” Superintendent of Police, Peshawar city, Khalid Hamdani said.

Over 28 people were also injured in the blast that took place inside the Ganj Ali Khan mosque near the city’s Shaheen bazaar, in the North Western Frontier region of Pakistan.

 The rescue workers and police rushed the injured to Lady Reading Hospital, where an emergency has been declared.

A police official said explosive material weighing around three to four kilograms and containing ball-bearings was planted inside the mosque.
