While political parties have been crying themselves hoarse about the harm caused by the Orkut site and its unrestricted access in cybercafes. Your paper even did an expose on the issue. After all this, it is strange that Orkut is easily accessible at any of the several BMC-run Internet kiosks across the city, particularly at the Parel, Hindmata, Shindewadi, Chembur, Nana Chowk and Churchgate kiosks.
It may be noted, there are innumerable under-18 teens using the kiosks to surf porn, while the elderly wait endlessly for their turn. Also, except at the CST kiosk, the very-basic and mandatory public-utility directory is missing/locked away at all kiosks. I request some respite from the nuisance caused by the local youth and useful access to the needy. |
