turned down: The Bombay High Court rejected Haresh and Nikita Mehta's plea to abort their 25-week-old foetus. file pic |
I am thankful to the not-so-accurate expertise committee of JJ Hospital doctors.
Their contemptuous and controversial report on the condition of the foetus, allowed the learned HC justices to conclude their decision.

The Mehtas said, "We have lost faith in the law." The Mehtas have not lost the case nor has the law won.
It is the unborn child that
has won.
If the unborn child could speak, it would have definitely asked his parents, "Why do you want to kill me?"
Although the issue of the Mehtas is debatable, I will pray that the Mehtas have the courage to go through this pregnancy and take care of their child.

The High Court is right in disallowing the abortion of the malformed foetus. There are full chances that the foetus may develop normally.

The Bombay High Court has delivered a well-thought verdict to Mehta's plea to get her 25-week-long pregnancy aborted.
If the couple wished to get the pregnancy aborted due to fear of giving birth to a disabled child, then abortion could have been carried out in the period allowed under the law during initial 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Bad judgment
The court has not taken the right decision. I lost my baby girl of 15 days, who was suffering from a congenital heart problem.
It was terrible to see her suffer. The judges will not understand the plight of such parents.
