Mumbai:

The couple should have been given the permission to abort their baby. Giving birth to an abnormal child will be more painful than an abortion. If the child is born with any kind of disability, the parents, as well as the child will not be able to lead a normal life.

The entire nation witnessed the recent legal battle for termination of an unborn child suffering from a congenital heart disease.

It is pertinent to note that on one hand, we read about day-old infants abandoned in garbage bin without any remorse, and on the other hand, a couple knocks the doors of the high court for legal termination of their unborn child. It is evident that the mother, Nikita Mehta must have pondered eons of times before finally deciding to terminate the child.

Sadly, the court has denied to give permission to abort the foetus, which has a heart disorder. No one can understand the mental agony  the Mehtas are facing. No mother would like to have her child aborted. Imagine the mental stress the Mehtas must have suffered while going to court for permission. We all should support the couple and not criticise their intentions.

It's sad to hear that Nikita Mehta will not be allowed to undergo an abortion. However, if the plea was accepted, there are chances that the law would have
been misused.
