The demolition of Khau Galli on New Marine Lines near SNDT will mark the end of good times for foodies.
On February 27, when the BMC demolition squad was going through the motions of razing everything to ground, there were several regulars, who were staring at ground-zero with tears in their eyes.
Everyone from college students to office-goers to theatre audiences used to visit Khau galli for eclectic delicacies. The entire lane would be buzzing at lunch hour with dosas, idlis and rice plates doing the rounds.
One wonders whether traversing through the galli will remain the same ever again. In Mumbai, everything changes except the law of change. Ashwin Kotian Churchgate
