The games our mantris play

The ongoing political drama in New Delhi around the trust vote typically conforms to criminalisation of politics. Vicious appetites and desires of  our so called parliamentary representatives looms large in the capital. With demands of all kinds coming forth, the sheer greed is quite evident.

Some want to be PM, some are eyeing the chief minister's seat, others crave for a meaty ministerial berth, and the modest ones seem to be content with criminal cases being dropped against them. The demand of one mantri is the re-naming of a regional airport after his illustrious father.

If that wasn't enough to shock you, then hearing the price that some mantris are demanding will knock you out. The minimum rate for a minister's support is Rs 25 crore.

The defections and desertions of the bargaining MPs is appalling and degenerates our political system.

One can't imagine, that this is the same place where stalwarts like Jawaharlal Nehru, Babasaheb Ambedkar and Lok Manya Tilak upheld the citizens' causes!

The entire political turmoil originated on the Nuclear deal. The irony is that amidst the deep desire to exploit the turmoil, our parliamentary custodians have totally forgotten about the N-deal.

The politicians are playing musical chairs in the Capital, while farmers in the country are forced to commit suicide. The absurd amount of money that is being spent on buying MPs should be diverted to the farmers.

The trust vote mela reminds me of the Pushkar mela where all kinds of animals are assembled and auctioned off during the festival. Horses, camels, cows and of courses the asses.

It is indeed ironic that the politicians who are representatives of the masses are busy enmassing wealth at a crucial juncture. Instead of ensuring that the country is not burdened with an early election, our beloved leaders are only interested in making hay while the sun shines.

It is shameful to see that corrupt mantris, criminals and convicts are going to decide the fate of our government. Political parties are flying ailing MPs in private planes to ensure they have the numbers when it matters the most.

While others are busy buying and selling their folk for cash, kind and favours.

Our freedom fighters must be turning in their graves at the shameful tamasha that is going on in the corridors of power in the Capital. Is this the dream nation that our freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for?

Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati is hell bent on breaking the current government to save her own skin from the CBI charge sheet.

Some Samajwadi Party leaders that gave assurances and promised support to the UPA in the morning went and joined the BSP in the evening.

Political parties are buying and selling MPs like cattle in a  weekend market.

While the general public jostles with Herculean issues, our mantris are making mountains of wealth.

India shining, indeed.
