Mumbai: I was travelling with my 85-year-old grandfather on the IC162 flight to Mumbai from Thiruvananthapuram on July 27. I made a simple request for a wheelchair to take him from the parking bay to the terminal.
I got to know that wheelchair passengers always travel last, even if it's a medical emergency. I had no option, but to wait. Also, there was only one wheelchair for two passengers.
The explanation I was given was that since there had been two more arrivals at the same time, the wheelchairs were being used for other passengers.
My grandfather had to walk from the coach to the terminal in spite of suffering from acute food poisoning. The airport staff was more bothered about carrying the cabin crew baggage!
