Lifestyle in India is changing and we are turning modern day after day. But this change is like a double-edged sword. While the urban women are marching towards the pinnacle of success, 'modernity' in the villages is flaunted by making use of new methods of female infanticide.
Cases of female infanticide have been on my mind lately. My heart sinks at every news article I read about parents giving up on a girl child. The recent news of doctors pumping male hormones into an infant girl's body and putting her through a surgery is the limit.
I never believed in societal pressure but now the parental thought process has deepened the wound in me. I want to tell every citizen that if you want a child be ready to accept a girl or a boy. |
