'Players': A remake of Hollywood blockbuster 'The Italian Job', Bollywood film 'Players' starring an ensemble cast of Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Bipasha Basu, Bobby Deol, Sikandar Kher and Omi Vaidya in lead roles with Aftab Shivdasani's cameo appearance; introduced a twist with an additional character of Riya played by Bipasha Basu who secretly plays an aide to villain Spider (Neil Nitin Mukesh). Riya shoots herself when Spider betrays her in the Indian version of the film. Also the gold recovered from the heist is split among the team members in 'The Italian Job' whereas in 'Players' the protagonists raise an orphanage with the gold

Flop remakes - 18 May 2013

'Aag': The film originally titled 'Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag' was a remake of the blockbuster 'Sholay'. Amitabh Bachchan who played a supporting role in 'Sholay' essayed the main villain in 'Aag'. A couple of twists differentiate the two films. Hema Malini in 'Sholay' rode a tonga to earn her living, while in 'Aag' Priyanka Kothari rode an auto-rickshaw. The villian Gabbar Singh kidnaps Basanti so that Jai and Veeru come too his lair to her rescue, whereas in 'Aag', villain Babban starts killing the villagers to compel the duo to surrender to him

'We Are Family': Karan Johar's comedy-drama 'We Are Family' starring Kajol, Arjun Rampal and Kareena Kapoor was a remake of 1998 Hollywood film 'Stepmom' featuring Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon, and Ed Harris. In both films the divorced mothers accept the other woman after discovering about their terminal illness. However, in 'We Are Family' Kajol gets hospitalised and Arjun tends to her at the hospital while Kareena tries to manage the house with the three kids. Whereas in 'Stepmom', the mother isn't hospitalised. Also Julia Roberts in 'Stepmom' plays a fashion photographer whereas Kareena Kapoor in 'We Are Family' plays a fashion designer

In the original film the villain dies in an encounter when Suriya chases him after the kidnap of home-minister's daughter.
