Yesterday morning at around 8, ghazal maestro Jagmohan Singh aka Jagjit Singh, breathed his last at Lilavati Hospital in Bandra. He was 70. Singh was admitted to Lilavati on September 23 after suffering a brain haemorrhage, just hours before he was to perform at a concert in the city. His untimely death has cast a gloom over the music industry. For the last few days, Singh was kept in the ICU and the doctors had put him on life support system. Several Bollywood bigwigs and music industry stalwarts were seen visiting the hospital to pay their last tribute and offer condolences to the Singh family. Final rites on the Padma Bhushan awardee will be performed today at Chandanwadi Crematorium in Juhu. He is survived by wife Chitra, also a ghazal singer. |
