Madhav Apte says: Madhav Mantri was the best captain I played under. He read the game very well. His field placings were tight. He was very stern. Not a great wicketkeeper, but more than adequate for Ranji Trophy level. I had to leave out many talented players. For example, I would have had Naren Tamhane as wicketkeeper, but only 11 can play. My team includes a lot of all-rounders, who were great batsmen.
