JD(U) MP, Independent candidate detained in Chapra

Two candidates in the fray in Maharajganj in Bihar - Prabhunath Singh of JD(U) and Independent contender Tarkeshwar Singh were confined in  their houses here on Thursday by the police apprehending that they would influence voting.

"Both Prabhunath Singh and Tarkeshwar Singh are confined at their houses here to prevent their movement during the polling in Maharajganj constituency," Saran superintendent of police Sanjay Singh said.

Prabhunath Singh is seeking re-election to the seat and Tarkeshwar Singh is a former MLA. The former is locked in a neck-and-neck fight with RJD's Umashankar Singh.
