Marathi edition of BJP prime ministerial candidate LK Advani's autobiography My country, my life will be released in Pune
The release of the Marathi translation of BJP's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani's autobiography My country, my life will be released in Pune tomorrow.
Advani, who is scheduled to arrive in Pune around the same time to campaign for the party's Lok Sabha candidate, Anil Shirole, is expected to release the book in person.
BJP sources say the book, entitled Desh maza, mee deshacha, is expected to attract curious voters, who have been following Advani's ongoing war of words with Congress bigwigs like party president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The 1,000-page autobiography has been published by Rajhans publications. "We have planned nothing special for the book release," Dilip Majgaonkar, publisher, Rajhans Publications told MiD DAY.
The translation rights were given to us at the right time by the Delhi-based Rupa Publications. "I am happy that the book is reaching readers at the time of the elections," he said.
"This is not an election gimmick," said Majgaonkar. "Ours is an apolitical publication. We have published many biographies of leading personalities of varied political persuasions.
The original English edition of the book was released on March 19, 2008, by former President A P J Abdul Kalam in New Delhi," he said.
Anand Hardikar, the editor of the Marathi translation, said, "In a way, the book is the political history of our country from Advani's perspective.
Anyone can read the autobiography irrespective of their political inclinations."
